When you first switch on your phone, you'll be given the option to sign into Facebook. Sign in by entering your username and password, as you would to sign in on your computer. If you log in during the initial setup, you shouldn't be asked to login again.

If you skip the login at setup, you can just press any of the Facebook links to get to the Facebook login screen.

In your phone's Accounts & sync settings, you'll see two Facebook accounts: one with your Facebook username and another called Facebook for INQ Mobile.

The Facebook account with your own name is the account that is linked to your own profile. If you log out of your own Facebook account on your phone, this account will disappear. This account is the one that syncs your Facebook friends with your phone's Contacts.

The Facebook for INQ Mobile account is linked to your phone rather than any specific account. Your phone uses this account to sync the INQ Home live icons and Calendar application with your own Facebook account. You should not edit or remove this account from your phone. Doing so will prevent your INQ Home live icons from syncing with a Facebook account.

Press the People live icon to open the People application where you can keep track of your top Facebook friends. When you first open the People application, your phone will recommend your Top Friends.

To choose more or to amend these, press the Options key and select Choose friends. Pick the friends you want to view in the People app and press Done. You can view up to 25 friends in People.

To see quick contact options in the People app, open People from the Home screen and press a friend's profile picture. You'll see a popup box with icons showing the various ways you can contact your friend.

If this box doesn't appear and you're taken straight to their Facebook profile page, this is because you don't have any of their contact details in your phone's Contacts. See the Contacts section of the user guide for more on this.

When you go to Choose friends in the People app, you may notice that not all of your Facebook friends appear in this list. This is because not everyone chooses to make their details available to third-party applications outside of Facebook. Therefore if you really want to see one of your friends in People and they haven't made their details available, you'll have to convince them to switch this on in their Facebook privacy settings.

Facebook contacts are friends whose details you have synced with your Contacts.

When you first sign into Facebook, you'll be given the option to sync all, some or none of your Facebook friends with your phone's contacts list. Syncing all of your friends will add Facebook friends as individual Contacts in your phone's contact list. Syncing with existing contacts will find Facebook contacts with the same name as friends already in your phone's Contacts and create combined Contacts entries for each of them where you'll be able to view their wall, photos and Facebook information.

All information downloaded from Facebook, including contact details, is read-only. It exists on your friends' profile pages and is pulled down to your phone when you sync their details. Therefore you can't edit this from your phone.

To add a number or details to a Facebook contact, you'll need to create a new contact and then merge the two together. Add a new contact by opening Contacts and then pressing the Options key and select New contact. Enter their details here and when you're finished, press Done.

To merge contacts together, select the contact you just created and press the Options key and select Edit contact. Then press the Options key and select Join. Select their Facebook contact details from your contacts list - the two will then be joined together.

To check into a location in Places, press the Places live icon on your Home screen and select Check in. You'll see a list of nearby locations loading on your screen as well as the option to search for locations. Choose the location that you want to check into. You'll then see a screen where you can enter a note about what you're doing there as well as tag any friends who are with you. When you're done, select Check in to update your location.

To log out of Facebook, open the Main Menu and select the Facebook application. If the application opens on any screen other than the Facebook for Android home screen, you can get to this by pressing the Facebook logo at the top of the screen.

From the Facebook for Android home screen, press the Options key and then select Logout to log out of Facebook. Your Facebook Contacts and Calendars will be removed. Your INQ Home live icons should also be cleared of any Facebook information, although you may need to switch your phone off and then on again to reset them completely.
